Ivan Roman

PhD in Biology. Junior Researcher at MCCAP

Ivan studied at the Department of Plant Physiology and Ecology at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. After obtaining his Master’s degree, he joined the Department of Genetics and Biotechnology at the same university (2020). His PhD thesis, “Genetic Diversity and Metabolic Potential of Actinobacteria from Galindez Island (Marine Antarctic)”, focuses on the study of actinomycetes isolated in the Marine Antarctic region, which is characterised by harsh climatic conditions. On 30 June 2025, Ivan successfully defended his thesis, earning a PhD.

Research interests: natural compounds, biodiversity and systematics of prokaryotes, physiology of mycelial bacteria, plant-bacterial interactions.
