DEPOSIT
The CCMPA offers three options for microorganism deposit: public deposit (open access), confidential storage with delayed access (up to 3 years), and safe deposit for a period determined by the depositor.
Public Deposit (Open Access)
Information about the deposited microorganism culture is published in the open catalog of the CCMPA. The biological material is freely provided to the scientific community and may be transferred to other researchers without the need for prior permission from the depositor. (Usually, this type of deposit is free of charge).
Confidential Storage with Delayed Access (up to 3 years)
Information about the deposited culture is entered into the closed database of the CCMPA for a specified period (up to 3 years), allowing the depositor to protect their priority until the publication of a scientific paper (a fee-based service). Upon the expiration of the embargo period, the information and the strain itself are automatically transferred to open access or with the prior consent of the depositor, in accordance with the mark in the Strain Passport.
Safe Deposit for a Period Determined by the Depositor
The culture is maintained under strict confidentiality. Information about the microorganism is not included in the open catalogs of the CCMPA. Access to the biological material and accompanying information is granted exclusively to the depositor or to third parties only with their written consent (this service requires an annual fee).
Additional Conditions
By mutual agreement between the CCMPA and the depositor, other specific forms and conditions for the preservation of biological material may be arranged.
Requirements for Cultures Submitted for Deposit
The CCMPA accepts for deposit microorganism cultures with a defined taxonomic position (at least to the genus level) that can be cultivated on commonly used culture media under standard conditions.
We accept microbial cultures that are not pathogenic and are assigned to a biosafety level no higher than Risk Group 2 (Order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine No. 365 dated 22.02.2023), which corresponds to BSL-2 (Directive 2000/54/EC).
The CCMPA reserves the right to refuse a deposit if the passport data of the proposed culture do not meet the collection’s requirements. Priority is given to published cultures or those intended for publication.
The depositor bears full responsibility for the accuracy of the data regarding the provided microorganism culture and for the information regarding potential risks when handling the strain.
